I love a season change. I may be an autumn baby, which, truly - is my fav season; but I just love that feeling of spring in the air & the hope of feeling actual warmth. Right at this moment, I'm staring outta my office window at blue skies, a couple of wispy clouds about...and god damn, it does bloody wonders for the soul. That being said, it also gets me excited about wardrobe situs - adding in some [more] neon, and the delight that no-tights weather brings. 

I've listed some items that have caught my eye [or, are already in my wardrobe] that I hope are 'forever' kinda pieces - not throw-away items, essentially - for many a spring to come.

There's something that makes you feel so damn feminine when wearing a maxi dress w/ a high thigh split. I picked up this Ganni maxi dress in the Net-A-Porter sale, and had the chance to wear it this weekend at a 24 hr spa getaway with my best - it was pretty magical. 

It feels like a dream to wear, and so easy to style: a killer piece for wedding invites/summer parties/work shit you have to attend. Or anytime you wanna feel goooood.

Cut Like A Knife

Do you ever fall in love with ugly shoes? 

This seems to be the story of my shoe-life. When I first caught a glimpse of the Balenciaga Knife Mules last year, my heart skipped a beat (quite likely) and I fell in love. But - they were satin - emerald green, and...satin. The thought of spending a three-figure sum on satin shoes - when I live in England, and I'm a walking-full-time-mum; cut short our love affair.

Then, they released them in black...and the heart skipping started all over again. This time, however, I felt less desire to hit the 'ADD TO CART' button. Maybe I was over them.

Fast forward to Feb 2018. Net-A-Porter release their Balenciaga collab, and I spy...gold metallic. GOLD. Upping the fugly level from every angle. I thought about these on and off since then, trying to justify the spend in my mind ('You don't own any teeny heel like that'/'How great for when you go out erm, like 4 nights a year'/'They can be a special shoe for weddings, formal events and...erm, classic events such as dropping Casey at nursery'...er....)

Ok, ok...so I got them. This week. I even debated sending them back, but I unusually felt a bit of a 'fuck it' vibe, put them on - and it naturally sealed the deal. You won't be seeing these guys all the time - they're so impractical for my lifestyle - which really goes against my commandments for high-end purchases, tbh - however - when they do leave their pure white Balenciaga box-home, ya know it's not a nursery drop-off day.

My Ultimate, Top 5 Flats

If you know me well, you know I live in flats. I can't be dealing with heels often - I walk everywhere, look after a child & want to get about quickly & without fuss. Don't get me wrong - I do love a heel, but for me, day-to-day; it's all about the flats...I present to you: my top 5 flats: enjoy.
1 - Gucci Brixton Loafer
I'm full of surprises - not. It prob goes without saying that I live in these. They just tick so many boxes for me: comfort, quality, versatility. I also just find them v. aesthetically pleasing. I honestly believe you get what you pay for when it comes to this style of loafer, too - often imitated, nothing can beat the real deal. Oh and the best part? You'll never want to part with them, and they can live timelessly in your wardrobe forever.

2 - Miu Miu Ballerina Flats
Never a boring choice, the Miu Miu ballerina gave me some serious heart eyes when I first peeked them on Instagram. They are a little more fussy than a standard flat, however on those 'I HAVE 5 MINUTES TO LEAVE THE HOUSE' kinda days, simply removing the ribbons and slipping them on, still gives for a super effective look.

3 - Saint Laurent Espadrille
Granted - these are most def a spring/summer choice, I love the chill look of an espadrille. Great with pretty much everything, and mega comfy to boot. Love the embroidered SL deets on these.

4 - Gucci Princetown
There was no way this list would be complete without the Princetown. My god, these are comfortable and so damn good to look at. I crave them in pretty much all of the styles, but black and gold embroidery is a major win in my eyes.  Available in so many colour-ways and patterns, the hardest part is choosing a pair. Once you do though, you'll wear them so much; I swear*

5 - Isabel Marant Fezzy Loafer
Ok - so it's another loafer - but I can't stress how much I live in loafers, and although these ones aren't in my wardrobe - yet - they damn well should be. Another black and gold situation, offering a backless option to boot (like the Gucci  Brixton) I picture these with denim, a simple black tee, and plenty of gold jewellery. Win.
